Guru Purnima — Honoring the Spiritual Teacher

Guru Purnima is observed on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Ashadha and is one of the most sacred days in the Vedic calendar. It is dedicated to honoring the Guru — the spiritual teacher who illuminates the darkness of ignorance with the light of knowledge and wisdom. The word Guru itself means “one who dispels darkness.” This day is also associated with Maharshi Vyasa, the great sage who compiled and organized the Vedas, and is therefore also known as Vyasa Purnima.

At HTSNM, Guru Purnima is an opportunity for our community to express heartfelt gratitude to all spiritual teachers, mentors, and guides who have shaped our lives and practice.

This date is noted on our temple calendar as an observance for devotees’ reference. There is no scheduled program or gathering at the temple for this occasion. Devotees are welcome to make offerings at home or during regular temple hours.
