Navarasa – Annual Cultural Event – 6/6/2026

 

On June 6, 2026, the Hindu Temple Society of New Mexico welcomed the community to its annual Navarasa cultural celebration at UNM’s Rodey Theatre. The event brought together talented performers, families, friends, and supporters for an inspiring showcase of Indian classical and contemporary music and dance. Through colorful costumes, expressive performances, and powerful storytelling, participants celebrated the richness and diversity of Indian culture. Navarasa provided performers of all ages with an opportunity to share their talents while strengthening cultural connections across generations. The evening reflected HTSNM’s continued commitment to preserving tradition, supporting local artists, and bringing the community together through the universal language of the performing arts.

Holi – Festival of Colors – 3/1/2026

On March 1, 2026, the community of the Hindu Temple Society of New Mexico gathered at Domingo Baca Park in Albuquerque to celebrate Holi, the Festival of Colors. Families, friends, and devotees came together to welcome the spirit of spring and the triumph of good over evil through music, laughter, and vibrant clouds of color. Throughout the celebration, participants joyfully shared colored powders, symbolizing unity, renewal, and the joyful energy that Holi brings to communities around the world. The park was filled with smiles, dancing, and the playful exchange of colors as people of all ages joined in the festivities. The event reflected the spirit of togetherness and cultural celebration that Holi represents, leaving everyone with colorful memories and a renewed sense of community.

Girija Kalyanam / Shiva Vivah Celebration – Day 2 – 2/22/2026

In this video, our community gathered to witness the divine celebration of Girija Kalyanam, the sacred wedding of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The ceremony began with the joyful welcoming of Shiva in a traditional baraat procession, followed by Ganesh Puja and purification rites. Devotees then observed the beautiful sequence of wedding rituals including Kanya Varan, Mangalashtak, Madhuparka Puja, Kanyadaan, Mangalsutra Dharana, Akshatropan, and the sacred Vivah Pradhan Homam. The celebration concluded with a grand Maha Mangal Arati, filling the temple with devotion, blessings, and spiritual joy as the divine union of Shiva and Parvati was honored in full Vedic tradition.

Girija Kalyanam / Shiva Vivah Celebration – Day 1 – 2/21/2026

Today the community gathered to witness the sacred beginning of Girija Kalyanam, honoring the divine marriage of Shiva and Parvati. The first day unfolded with Vedic invocations, devotional kirtans, and ceremonial preparations that established the spiritual foundation for the wedding celebrations ahead. Through sacred chanting and offerings, devotees reflected on the profound symbolism of this celestial union—representing the harmony of consciousness and divine energy, devotion and strength, grace and perseverance. The atmosphere was filled with reverence, beauty, and collective joy as the auspicious Shiva Vivah celebration began.

 
 

New Mexico Interfaith Dialog Series – 1/16/2026

The community gathered for an evening of thoughtful reflection and shared learning as temple member Prabhat Singh presented on Hinduism as part of the New Mexico Interfaith Dialogue Series. Through personal insight and lived experience, Prabhat explored core Hindu values, spiritual traditions, and the role of devotion and compassion in daily life. This welcoming, community-centered program was free and open to all and offered a meaningful opportunity to deepen understanding and strengthen interfaith connection.

Ayyappa Swamy Puja – 1/10/2026

Ayyappa Swamy Pooja is a sacred observance dedicated to Lord Ayyappa, symbolizing discipline, devotion, and inner purity. Performed with prayers, chants, and offerings, the pooja honors his ideals of dharma, unity, and self-control, guiding devotees toward spiritual strength, humility, and balance in daily life.
