Surya Grahan — Solar Eclipse
A Solar Eclipse, known as Surya Grahan in Sanskrit, holds deep significance in Hindu spiritual tradition. It is considered a time of heightened spiritual energy — a powerful opportunity for prayer, meditation, japa (chanting), and inner reflection. Ancient scriptures teach that spiritual practices undertaken during a Grahan carry multiplied merit. Temples traditionally observe special rituals and conduct puja both before and after the eclipse period. Devotees are encouraged to engage in prayer, maintain silence, and refrain from food during the Grahan period if physically able.
HTSNM will observe Surya Grahan with special prayers and guidance for our community on this auspicious and sacred occasion.
This date is noted on our temple calendar as an observance for devotees’ reference. There is no scheduled program or gathering at the temple for this occasion. Devotees are welcome to make offerings at home or during regular temple hours.
