Devshayani Ekadashi — Lord Vishnu’s Cosmic Sleep Begins
Devshayani Ekadashi, also known as Ashadhi Ekadashi or Harishayani Ekadashi, marks the beginning of Chaturmas — the four sacred months during which Lord Vishnu is said to rest in cosmic sleep on the serpent Adishesha in the ocean of milk. This Ekadashi is one of the most significant in the Vaishnava calendar. During Chaturmas, devotees intensify their spiritual practices, observe fasting, and refrain from certain activities. The day is celebrated with great devotion in Pandharpur, Maharashtra, with massive pilgrimages to the Vitthal temple.
This date is noted on our temple calendar as an observance for devotees’ reference. There is no scheduled program or gathering at the temple for this occasion. Devotees are welcome to make offerings at home or during regular temple hours.
