Bhaiya Dooj — The Bond of Siblings
Bhaiya Dooj is celebrated two days after Diwali and honors the sacred bond between brothers and sisters, similar to Raksha Bandhan. On this day, sisters perform aarti for their brothers, apply a tilak on their foreheads, and pray for their long life and prosperity. Brothers in turn offer gifts and pledge their lifelong love and support. According to legend, on this day Yamraj (the god of death) visited his sister Yamuna, who welcomed him with great love — and he blessed her that any brother who receives a tilak from his sister on this day will be freed from the fear of death.
This date is noted on our temple calendar as an observance for devotees’ reference. There is no scheduled program or gathering at the temple for this occasion. Devotees are welcome to make offerings at home or during regular temple hours.
