Vaikuntha Chaturdashi — The Night of Shiva and Vishnu’s Union
Vaikuntha Chaturdashi falls on the fourteenth day of the bright fortnight of Kartika and is an extraordinarily sacred night when Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu are worshipped together. According to tradition, on this night Lord Vishnu offered 1,000 lotus flowers to Lord Shiva — and when one flower was missing, he offered his eye in its place, deeply moving Shiva who granted him the Sudarshana Chakra. Worshipping both Shiva and Vishnu on this night with lamps, flowers, and the recitation of their sacred names is believed to grant liberation and the blessings of Vaikuntha (the divine realm).
This date is noted on our temple calendar as an observance for devotees’ reference. There is no scheduled program or gathering at the temple for this occasion. Devotees are welcome to make offerings at home or during regular temple hours.
