Navratri — Nine Sacred Nights of Goddess Worship

Navratri, meaning “nine nights,” is one of the most spiritually significant and widely celebrated festivals in Hinduism. It honors the nine forms of Goddess Durga — the Divine Mother — over nine consecutive nights and days of prayer, fasting, music, and devotion. Each day is dedicated to a different manifestation of Shakti (divine feminine energy): Shailputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kalaratri, Mahagauri, and Siddhidatri. The festival culminates on Vijayadashami (Dussehra), celebrating the victory of good over evil. Navratri is observed with dandiya and garba dancing, bhajans, havan, and the recitation of the Durga Saptashati.

The Hindu Temple Society of New Mexico will celebrate Navratri 2026 with nightly prayers, abhishekam, and community celebrations honoring the Divine Mother in all her glorious forms.

The specific schedule, rituals, and program details for this celebration are being finalized by our temple committee. We warmly invite all devotees and community members to join us — please check back soon or follow our announcements for confirmed timing and event details.

All are welcome. Jai Shri!
