Onam — The Harvest Festival of Kerala

Onam is one of the most celebrated and beloved festivals of Kerala and the South Indian community worldwide. It marks the homecoming of the benevolent King Mahabali, a great devotee of Lord Vishnu, who is said to return each year to visit his people. The festival is observed over ten days, culminating on Thiruvonam, and is filled with vibrant celebrations — the famous floral carpet (Pookalam), traditional Onam Sadhya (feast), boat races, and cultural performances. Onam transcends religious boundaries and is a celebration of abundance, unity, and the spirit of Kerala’s rich cultural heritage.

HTSNM celebrates Onam as a joyful community occasion, bringing together devotees of all backgrounds in the spirit of togetherness and gratitude.

This date is noted on our temple calendar as an observance for devotees’ reference. There is no scheduled program or gathering at the temple for this occasion. Devotees are welcome to make offerings at home or during regular temple hours.
