Shravana Purnima — Raksha Bandhan
Shravana Purnima is the full moon of the sacred month of Shravana and is celebrated across India as Raksha Bandhan — the festival of the sacred bond between brothers and sisters. Sisters tie a protective thread (rakhi) on their brothers’ wrists, and brothers pledge their protection and love. This Purnima is also significant for the Upanayana ceremony and is the day traditionally observed for the Avani Avittam (sacred thread changing ceremony) by Brahmin communities. It is a day of deep familial and community bonds.
This date is noted on our temple calendar as an observance for devotees’ reference. There is no scheduled program or gathering at the temple for this occasion. Devotees are welcome to make offerings at home or during regular temple hours.
